SOME OF OUR HISTORY

The Pro Shop Pub was opened in 1976 by Gail Anderson and her son Mike as a pub serving beer, wine, and sandwiches. They planned to open a golf pro shop in the front, however that changed when they hired a lesbian bartender. The gay community began frequenting the pub, and consequently, business tripled. Since then, thousands of patrons have visited the Pro Shop Pub, and it continues to be one of the longest running gay bars in the country. Although Miss Gail passed away on June 20th, 2001, her daughter Patricia continues to operate the Pro Shop Pub just as she would have wanted. The Pro Shop Pub now celebrates over three decades of proudly serving the Tampa Bay gay community.
